Last night Em accompanied me to White Linen Night in the warehouse arts district. Apparently this is a New Orleans tradition dating back to pre-A/C days when people don white linen to welcome the August heat and get together to enjoy music, artwork, booze... you know, all the makings of a nola party :)
Some of the favorites from the evening:
Miranda Lake at Jonathan Ferrara Gallery:

Rose Casterline at Soren Christensen:

Deedra Ludwig at LeMieux Gallery:

We met up with Al afterward for a glass of wine at Tommy's (which is coincidentally home to a random quick cash gig I did this summer), where we met a few interesting people... One dude claimed to be "the most creative person that's ever lived" and another tried to convince me that because I was a women, i must not meet too many people that appreciate the artistry and poetry of independent filmmaking (that last part to be read in an Hispanic accent). Fun was had by all.
In other news: everyone should see 500 Days of Summer. It's wonderful. I have a huge crush on Joseph Gordon-Levitt (not to give anything away, but in the movie he loves architecture...so, duh.) And I might have an even bigger girl crush on Zooey Deschanel.
If you would like to live vicariously through the characters, listen to this song from the soundtrack while looking at something really inspirational... it almost works :)

hey satpack. how the heck do you set where the words of your title show up? mine looks reallly stupid.
I, too, have a huge crush on Joseph. Not surprising, I know. And Zooey is adorable. I want to own everything she wears in this movie. I knew we would both love this one! miss you!
