"Faith is an action, not a feeing"

"The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the Lord" (Prov. 21:31)

Lately I've been hit with the reality of some needs I need to fill before I can get on that plane in 22 days. And facing reality brings pressure, and pressure brings fear. And, as I learned yesterday, apparently "fear not" (or something similar) appears in the bible 366 times. It's the most frequent commandment. After several days of rewriting lists and recrunching numbers- and ultimately letting fear creep back in- I finally remembered that these needs will not be filled by my i-can-fix-it self... they'll be filled by the One who knows what I need even more than I do.

So friends, partner with me today by praying for these things :)

I just reread my journal from my trip to Kenya in 2007 for the first time in a long time. A lot of it was quotes and points made by the people we met and heard stories from. Interesting that I read it today... seeing as the overarching lesson I think I brought back with me from that trip was what it means to be truly dependent on God.

I wrote about talking with my friend Joseph. Joseph works with the ministry Chrisc (with Mike- see prev. entries), and he also pastors at Spirit of Faith Church in Kibera slums. In 2007 Joseph still lived in the slums with his family and didn't have any real source of income.
We asked him "Joseph, how do you eat? Where do you get your meals?"
He laughed, like it was nothing...

"It's God" That's it.

Fear always creeps up on us...but don't let it stop you from living your dreams...your aspirations! Face them head on and persevere.
